Legal Framework for e-Research Project

We are now seeing vast change to the global research sector due to advances in information and communications technology (ICT).

e-Research describes national and international multi-disciplinary collaboration using a spectrum of advanced ICT capabilities that will enhance and allow fast-paced, real-time and large-scale access to knowledge.

e-Research supports all disciplines, including the social sciences and humanities. To ensure Australia remains internationally competitive Commonwealth and State governments, Universities, and research institutions/organisations have invested heavily in e-Research physical and intellectual infrastructure.

This project aims to build a legal framework that will overcome barriers to the adoption of an e-Research methodology. It will address legal issues such as contractual frameworks, data ownership, access/reuse, IP licensing, privacy and liability.
